Packaging & Sustainability

Where stated on our heating instructions, some of our packaging is oven safe. Please read instructions carefully.

We care about the environment! Our packaging is sourced sustainably. All our packaging is either home compostable, recyclable, or commercially compostable. Please see more info on our Packaging & Sustainability page.

Yes, our sugarcane pulp products will biodegrade in any compost environment. The rate of decomposition depends on the composting conditions – the temperature, turnover rate, moisture, etc. Just like other compostable material, products will biodegrade much faster if they are broken into smaller pieces. Sugarcane pulp will biodegrade at the same rate as other fibrous garden waste in a home composting system. They will biodegrade within 120 days in a commercial composting facility.

Yes. Our sugarcane products can be recycled along with the mainstream paper and cardboard recycling if it is not too contaminated with food residue.

Yes! We have a plastic-free and tree-free takeaway container that works. Our BioCare Takeaways have a perfect seal and are freezer, microwave, and oven safe. They can be heated in the microwave and oven up to 220 Degree Centigrade. So, you can now make ready-to-serve meals off-site and reheat in the oven for serving.

A bioplastic is a substance made from organic biomass sources, unlike conventional plastics, which are made from petroleum. Bioplastics are made through several different resources such as vegetable oils, cellulose, starches, carbohydrates, acids, and alcohols. Almost all bioplastics produce less CO2 and their overall environmental impact is typically lower than that of conventional plastics.

BioPak’s bioplastic packaging is better than conventional plastic packaging as it helps reduce the dependency on limited fossil resources, which are expected to become significantly more expensive in the coming decades. Fossil resources are being gradually substituted with renewable resources. Bioplastic is predominantly manufactured using annual crops, such as corn and sugar beet, or perennial cultures such as cassava and sugarcane.

Yes, our bioplastic products can be commercially composted. They are unlikely to compost in home composts as they need the controlled conditions (humidity, aeration, temperature) of aerobic composting for quick and safe compost production.

Our bioplastic products are designed to return to the soil through composting. If thrown into the bin they will end up in a landfill. Bioplastic does not biodegrade in landfill conditions. However, it is still environmentally better than plastic, as the CO2 absorbed during the growth phase of the plant is stored and locked up in the material.

Serving & Heating

For your convenience, our menu is designed to bring ‘wow-factor’ to mealtime with minimal preparation from you. All portions are provided with simple ‘heat and serve’ instructions to get dinner on the table in a few easy steps. Dinners may take up to 30 mins in the oven.

As all ovens vary, our heating instructions are a good guide on how long to heat your food. Our heating instructions get the best results when your oven has been preheated first, and when your food has come to room temp.

We at Yes Chef err on the side of not over cooking, so if you like your food well done, you may find you like to heat the food a little longer. Some of our dishes are also microwavable, giving you the added convenience of preparing your meals at work or on the run – especially for lunch in the office!

To check that your fish is cooked properly, break a small section near the middle, if it flakes and comes apart, it is cooked. If it doesn’t flake and come apart probably needs a couple of more min.

Food Safety

Our food is delivered blast-chilled in an insulated carton ready for refrigeration. We strictly advise food is put in the fridge as soon as you can after your delivery being received – by the early morning.

As our food is made and delivered fresh, our meals have a short shelf life. We strongly advise eating all meals within the selected window they were ordered for. To ensure ultimate freshness, we strongly advise against eating meals beyond this period. In the instance you have ordered a meal with seafood, we strongly recommend you eat that meal first.
